Spring Break 2012 is Will Be Out of This World… but will it be the end of the world?

December 5, 2011

The Mayan Calendar has been making more and more headlines as 2012 approaches–the year some say will be our last. December 21, 2012 is the last day in the Maya Long Count calendar cycle, and scores of authors, mystics and hobbyists have predicted this day spells doom for the planet. This might leave many of us wondering: should be be partying like it’s 2012?

Journalists like Lawrence Joseph—author of Apocalypse 2012—predict catastrophe based on unique astronomical events expected in 2012. The winter solstice will bring about an alignment of the planet with the center of the galaxy for the first time in over 25,000 years. “Whatever energy typically streams to Earth from the center of the Milky Way will indeed be disrupted on 12/21/12 at 11:11 p.m. Universal Time,” Joseph writes.

Whether or not 2012 will be the last Spring Break ever, one thing is for certain: Spring Break 2012 in Daytona Beach is going to be a party to end all parties.

A Souvenir That Lasts Forever

February 25, 2011

When people go on vacations, they usually get some gift or souvenir to remember their trip. A personal souvenir which can be purchased by visitors to Daytona Beach is a tattoo. They’re popular, and you’ll always remember your amazing time down here.

Tattoos can be anything from a symbol representing something, to a personal connection to your life, to just something you like and think is appealing.

Here are some of the top tattoo places in Daytona Beach:

Tropical Tattoo

Generation X Tattoo

Daytona Hardcore Tattoo

Jet Set Tattoos

After getting a tattoo, you will definitely have to take care of it for a while. Here are some tips to make sure your tattoo continues looking it’s best:

  • Lightly wash the tattoo with mild antibiotic soap, then gently pat it dry with a washcloth. Do not rub the skin.
  • Make sure that whenever you go out in the sun, coat it with sunscreen. If not, the colors will fade and your skin may peel leaving patches and making it uneven.
  • Avoid getting a lot of water on your tattoo for the first few weeks.

We have outstanding tattoo artists in Daytona Beach which will create art pieces that will meet your standards!

Safe Tanning

February 23, 2011

For a majority of people, becoming tan is on their top ten list of what to do during spring break. Everyone wants golden skin which makes you look sunkissed. You can either get the tan the protective way, or not.

By laying out in the sun for endless hours without any sun lotion or protection on at all will increase your chances of getting skin cancer. Around Daytona Beach, the sun is always shining bright and it’s very risky going outside without any sun lotion on but people do it anyways.

There are some places close by which offer spray tans though. These aren’t the fake spray tans which make you orange like an Oompa Loompa, they make you look like you’ve actually been out in the sun for days and your skin is still healthy!

Sessions Beauty Lounge offers both spray tanning and hair/nail services. Sessions Beauty Lounge is located on Beville Road.

Eternal Youth Spa is a place which offers more than just spray tans. If you choose to get a spray tan, you might as well stay and get a facial or manicure as well!

Beach Sports

February 18, 2011

People from everywhere enjoy various sports in which they can gather multiple people all together to have fun. Some sports that go down on the beach include: soccer, volleyball, frisbee, and football.

Beach volleyball is very common down in Daytona and there are multiple nets set up on the beach. Competitions go down for people to compete and find the best team in town. One of the main places that host volleyball competitions is The Ocean Deck. Here, you are able to enjoy some food, nice music, and a tournament which you can either choose to be a part of, or watch from the side lines!

Throw a soccer ball or football in your car just in case you’re feeling up for some type of activity later. Kick around the ball, toss it back and forth, or even start up a game to give you something to do while hanging at the beach.

Having a frisbee with you can never be a bad thing. Everyone knows how to toss a frisbee, and if not, they can learn. Just tossing it back and forth can be fun, or start up an Ultimate Frisbee game which can be very exciting. Everyone will want to join in and share the fun!

Playing sports with everyone on the beach is a nice way to raise the atmosphere. If you need a quick break from these sports, it’s very refreshing being able to run right into the ocean for a nice dip and continue your playing!

The Weather is Looking Better

February 15, 2011

As the days creep closer to spring break 2011, the days are also progressively getting warmer. Warm weather is what we want in Daytona Beach and it’s what we’re going to get this year! As of now, the temperatures for the next few weeks range from 70-75 degrees, and the sun will definitely be shining. With this weather, you’ll be able to do everything you want to accomplish outdoors during spring break. Unlike Panama City’s temperatures being in the high 60’s, Daytona Beach ranks higher with better temperature. There’s no doubt that you won’t enjoy your time in Daytona Beach.
